Coach Arteta: 'I will fight to get the Premier League to change its rules.'

Mikel Arteta is urging the Premier League to alter regulations on the number of registered players in the squad, after being compelled to exclude several promising players from the Community Shield roster.

After the 3-0 victory over Manchester City, Arteta said he is 'fighting' with the Premier League to expand the squad size. Two cases that the Spanish coach particularly regrets are Ethan Nwaneri and Marli Salmon.

"It's truly sad that they could not be involved. I have been fighting with the Premier League to expand and allow more players to be registered in the squad, because they deserve to be there," Arteta shared.

Both Nwaneri and Salmon have been part of Arsenal's pre-season preparations, with Salmon participating in the entire pre-season period. Arteta hopes the regulations will be adjusted so that players like them can become options and contribute to the team.

"Hopefully we can change the rules so that players have the chance to play, become options, and contribute to the team in the future," Arteta added.

The failure to register for matches also casts doubt on the future of some Arsenal players. Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli were both absent against Man City, but Arteta insists both are still in his plans.

"Yes, they are very important to us," Arteta replied when asked if Jesus and Martinelli would continue to wear the Arsenal shirt during this transfer window.

Nevertheless, Nwaneri is facing the possibility of leaving Arsenal. The 19-year-old spent time on loan at Marseille last season and is now attracting interest from AC Milan, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Fulham.

Martinelli was also approached by Galatasaray, but the Brazilian winger refused to move to Turkey.

On the pitch, Arsenal quickly proved that the lack of personnel did not affect the team's strength. Riccardo Calafiori took just 23 seconds to open the scoring against Man City, setting a record for the fastest goal in Community Shield history. Myles Lewis-Skelly provided the assist for the Italian defender.

Martin Odegaard continued to shine with a goal in the 48th minute, giving Arsenal a 3-0 lead and completing a dominant performance against the big opponent.

This victory brings a positive sign for Arsenal ahead of the new season. Arteta's team will begin their Premier League campaign on Friday with a home match against Coventry at the Emirates Stadium.
