Manchester United are making quite positive preparations for the 2026/27 season. In addition to the first team’s friendlies, another Red Devils squad made their mark in a closed-door encounter with Aston Villa.

According to shared information, Manchester United’s U21 team secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Aston Villa’s U21 side. This result is notable because the match was played without spectators and was arranged to give young players additional match time before the new season.

Ashton Missin was the standout performer, netting a brace, while Amir Ibragimov and Chido Obi also found the back of the net. Cristian Orozco was the other player to get on the scoresheet, completing the dominant attacking display from the Manchester club.

Notably, Orozco’s goal carried special significance. This is the first goal for the Colombian midfielder since his arrival at Manchester United, marking a new step in his adaptation to English football.

Orozco recently moved to Manchester United from Fortaleza CEIF and is regarded as one of the promising young talents. He previously played professionally in Colombia before completing the transfer to England.

The midfielder made his Red Devils debut last month, coming off the bench in a preseason friendly for Manchester United’s U21 against Altrincham. The goal against Aston Villa therefore gives Orozco more confidence in his early days at the new club.

At the first-team level, Manchester United are also going through a fairly positive preparation period. Michael Carrick’s side remain unbeaten in most of their public preseason friendlies, including a 5-0 win over Rosenborg.

Carrick is also being strengthened by the arrivals of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. The English manager still wants Manchester United to continue adding personnel before the summer transfer window closes.

MU’s first team will open the 2026/27 Premier League campaign with an away trip to Hull City next weekend.
