Manchester United has reached a verbal agreement to sign teenage talent Page for £10 million! Personal terms have been settled, and he is set to join before the new season begins.

According to reports, Manchester United's move for Leicester City's rising star Louis Page has been verbally agreed upon. This indicates that the transfer is broadly settled, giving the 18-year-old English youngster a chance to be United's seventh new arrival this summer.

Half of Manchester United's summer signings so far are players under the age of 20, with only Andre Santos, Carl Darlow, and Youri Tielemans being more experienced. Page made 21 appearances for Leicester's first team last season and was named the EFL Young Player of the Year.

His Chinese name sounds like the cartoon character "Peppa Pig," but it actually means "page." The England U20 international has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Aston Villa, but he supports Manchester United from childhood, so he prefers to join the Red Devils.

United scouts believe Page could develop into a player similar to Brighton's Carlos Baleba, while others have compared him to Jude Bellingham, both of whom have won EFL awards. These are of course just hype, but they are enough to attract Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the United owner who is keen on youth development.

Leicester manager Russell Martin wants to keep Page, but with the Foxes suffering back-to-back relegations to League One and the club potentially being sold, promising young players are considering leaving. 17-year-old Jeremy Monga has already joined Manchester City, another Manchester giant.

Sources close to Manchester United say the club has reached a principle agreement with Leicester over Page's transfer fee, totaling £10 million including performance-related add-ons. The club has also advanced in negotiations with Page over a long-term personal contract, with only final details remaining.

British media report that talks between the two clubs have entered a very advanced stage, and personal terms with the player have already been agreed. It is understood that United are confident of completing the deal within this week, thereby signing Page to a long-term contract.

This timeline may not be precise, as final details and formal procedures are still pending, and a medical examination needs to be completed. However, Page's destination appears to be Old Trafford.

Leicester boss Martin admitted this week that the club received a bid from another club but rejected it, acknowledging that many clubs are interested in his player. The 40-year-old coach did not disclose the name of the bidding club, so it may not necessarily be Manchester United, which also lowers expectations for an immediate official announcement.

Coach Martin said: "He is in our squad, and Louis (Page) is a truly incredible young player. I know Manchester United's sporting director (Jason Wilcox) very well because we worked together at Southampton. We haven't discussed Louis, and he knows what I would say to him. 'Get lost!' I'll keep him away unless a fantastic offer comes in, otherwise he stays, and I enjoy working with him."

A Manchester United blogger said that negotiations between United and Leicester are still in the early stages but are progressing smoothly. Page prefers to join United, though Arsenal and Aston Villa are also interested. Arsenal did submit a bid, but it was rejected. A reference point is the transfer of Tynan Thompson, where Tottenham agreed to sell him to United for £8 million.

Page's transfer fee will certainly be higher, as he has made 21 appearances for the first team, including in the Championship, which demonstrates his high level and advanced development compared to Thompson. If the transfer fee falls between £10 million and £15 million, it would not be surprising. However, no formal agreement on the fee has been reached yet.
