Coach Park Hang Seo's team defeated HAGL by a resounding 6-2 score in Thailand.

The team Kanchanaburi Power FC, under coach Park Hang Seo, secured a 6-2 victory over HAGL in a friendly in Thailand.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai suffered a heavy 2-6 defeat to Kanchanaburi Power FC in a friendly match in Thailand on the afternoon of August 14th. This was a notable match as the team from the mountains faced off against the club led by Coach Park Hang Seo, who once enjoyed a successful period with Vietnamese football.

Kanchanaburi Power FC currently plays in the Thai League 2 and is preparing for the new season. Despite having suffered a 0-3 defeat to Burapha United in a friendly on August 13, Coach Park Hang Seo's team quickly showed a completely different face when facing HAGL. They applied constant pressure and managed to breach the opponent's net six times.

Meanwhile, HAGL entered the match with a squad featuring many young players in order to test their lineup. The mountain team managed only two goals, scored by Nay Di Dan and Nguyen Minh Tam, thus accepting a four-goal defeat. This result shows that HAGL still has a lot of work to do before the 2026/2027 season.

Despite the defeat on the field, the encounter still brought notable scenes off the pitch. Coach Park Hang Seo had the chance to meet again with players who were once his students in the U23 Vietnam team, including Thanh Son. The conversations and reunions between the Korean strategist and his former pupils created a special highlight for the friendly match.

This was also HAGL's first defeat during their training camp in Thailand. Previously, the mountain team had started well with a 2-1 victory over Suphanburi FC thanks to goals from Vo Dinh Lam and Ha Chau Phi. After the match against Kanchanaburi Power FC, HAGL still has three more friendlies: against Ratchaburi on August 15, Uthai Thani on August 18, and Pattani on August 19.

The training camp in Thailand is the third consecutive year HAGL has chosen this location to prepare for the new season. Coach Le Quang Trai and technical director Vu Tien Thanh will have plenty of time to test and adjust the squad after the friendlies. HAGL's most important goal is to improve their strength before the 2026-2027 season, thereby avoiding a repeat of the intense relegation battle like last season.
