Coach Park Hang Seo and his Thai club win against HAGL

On the afternoon of August 14, HAGL lost 2-6 to Kanchanaburi Power FC in the second friendly in Thailand, during a training camp for the 2026/2027 season.

Kanchanaburi Power FC currently plays in Thai League 2 and is coached by Park Hang Seo, former head coach of the Vietnam national team and U23 team. The match also held special significance as Park had the chance to meet many former students who had played for Vietnam's youth national teams.

According to the club, the two goals of the mountain town team were scored by Nay Di Đan and Nguyễn Minh Tâm. In this match, HAGL tested young players newly promoted to the first team. "The result of the second friendly match on Thai soil. A valuable experience for the young warriors just promoted to the First Team. The team's two goals were scored by Nay Di Đan and Nguyễn Minh Tâm," HAGL club stated.

The 2-6 defeat came just one day after Kanchanaburi Power FC lost 0-3 to Thai League 3 side Burapha United in a friendly. The result shows that the matches in Thailand are mainly aimed at helping both teams test personnel, check lineups, and refine tactics before the new season.

Previously, HAGL had beaten Suphanburi FC 2-1 in the first friendly, with goals from Võ Đình Lâm and Hà Châu Phi.

The mountain town team still has three friendlies in Thailand, facing Ratchaburi on August 15, Uthai Thani on August 18, and Pattani on August 19, before returning to Vietnam.

As for Coach Park, nearly a week ago, he shared that he had no intention of returning to coaching after leaving the Vietnam national team. Over the past three years, although he received some offers from clubs in Southeast Asia, he declined them all.

However, a meeting with the Kanchanaburi leadership, headed by chairman Prawat Kithammakunnit, made him change his decision. Coach Park was impressed by the club's sincerity in persuading him to accept the offer.

When he first arrived in Kanchanaburi, he felt the care and trust of the club members and quickly became determined to build a strong team.

Coach Park also believes that Thailand has many Japanese coaches but not many Korean coaches. With his experience and reputation in Southeast Asia, he wants to contribute to showing that Thai football can also be led by a Korean coach.
