The Vietnamese national team held a closed training session on a carpet grass field.

This afternoon, 14 August, Vietnam's squad begins their first practice in Kuala Lumpur, gearing up for the ASEAN Championship 2026 semi-final first leg versus Malaysia on 16 August.

According to the plan, coach Kim Sang Sik and his players will train from 17:30 at Kelab Aman Stadium. This venue is only about 5.8 km from the Mercure Kuala Lumpur Trion hotel where the Vietnamese team is staying, with a travel time of approximately 10 minutes by car.

Mercure Kuala Lumpur Trion is one of the modern and prominent hotels in Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur.

Notably, Kelab Aman Stadium uses carpet grass, which is similar to the turf at the Kuala Lumpur Stadium where the first leg semi-final between Malaysia and Vietnam will be held. The choice of this training ground is seen as a deliberate preparation by the coaching staff to help the players adapt to the grass surface early before the match.

According to the plan, during the first training session, coach Kim Sang Sik will continue to refine tactical plans while helping his players get accustomed to the weather and pitch conditions in Malaysia.

Kelab Aman is a privately owned stadium, so security is tightly controlled. The Vietnam Football Federation was required to submit in advance the list of Vietnamese journalists traveling to cover the event for registration with the stadium management.

Training under secure conditions also helps the Vietnamese team maintain the necessary focus ahead of the important match.

The Malaysia vs Vietnam match in the first leg of the ASEAN Championship 2026 semi-final will take place at 20:00 on August 16.

With the support of fans in Malaysia and encouragement from home, coach Kim Sang Sik and his players are approaching the first leg semi-final with the highest focus and determination.
