V.League team receives great news from FIFA

Thanh Hoa has been cleared of the FIFA transfer ban, paving the way for squad reinforcement before the 2026/27 V.League campaign.

Thanh Hoa has resolved one of its biggest challenges ahead of the new season by settling financial obligations, prompting FIFA to remove the transfer embargo. After enduring prolonged financial difficulties and instability at the management level, the team from Thanh Hoa can now take a more proactive approach in building its squad for the 2026/27 V.League season.

According to the latest updates, Thanh Hoa has paid all fines and submitted the necessary documents, leading FIFA to officially lift the three-consecutive-window transfer ban. This is seen as a crucial breakthrough, freeing the club from restrictions on registering and signing new players ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Notably, Dong A Real Estate Group, which has supported and sponsored Thanh Hoa for the past six seasons, has stepped in to cover all debts and related costs. This move not only helps the club clear the penalty but also significantly eases financial pressure on the entity that will take over the team in the near future. Previously, when taking over the club in 2021, Chairman Cao Hoang Duc had to spend over 10 billion VND to settle outstanding debts.

With the ban lifted, Thanh Hoa quickly accelerates its squad preparation plans. The club prioritizes retaining key local players such as Nguyen Dinh Huyen, Trinh Van Loi, Le Van Thang, Nguyen Ba Tien, and Doan Ngoc Ha. These players were instrumental in helping Thanh Hoa successfully avoid relegation last season. Regarding foreign players, Odil Abdurakhmanov is likely to rejoin the team, although he has not yet returned to training.

Thanh Hoa has also added two players who previously represented the Vietnam U23 team: midfielder Nguyen Trong Phu from Binh Duong and goalkeeper Ho Tung Han. The arrival of Tung Han is especially necessary as Xuan Hoang has moved to Nam Dinh and Y Eli Nie has joined Cong An Ha Noi. With a gradually improving squad, the team from Thanh Hoa has a stronger foundation for a more stable season.

Coach Mai Xuan Hop has also reaffirmed his commitment to his hometown club, while the Thanh Hoa leadership plans to continue seeking new additions, particularly in the foreign player positions.
