Pivo Nguyen Minh Tri – one of the icons of Vietnamese futsal has officially announced his retirement from top-level competition at age 30. This decision concludes his 15-year journey of dedication, during which the striker twice participated in the World Cup stage, leaving a profound impression on fans.

Speaking of Minh Tri, one cannot overlook the 2016 miracle – when Vietnamese futsal created a major "shock" in Asia. Defeating Japan to secure a World Cup ticket, the team was underestimated when stepping onto the global stage. However, in that context, Minh Tri rose to become the central figure in the fairy tale named Vietnamese futsal.

In the opening match against Guatemala, with immense pressure on the shoulders of a 20-year-old player, Minh Tri responded with an explosive performance. The opening goal with a quick turn-and-shoot was just the beginning. Within less than a minute after the opponent equalized, he completed a historic hat-trick, putting Vietnam ahead 3-1 and making the world remember his name.

Not stopping there, Minh Tri continued to prove his class at the 2021 World Cup, becoming the first Vietnamese player to score in two FIFA Futsal World Cup editions. At the domestic level, he boasts an impressive record with the Vietnam Futsal Golden Ball award in 2020 and numerous championship titles with Thai Son Nam Club.
