Pham Hoang Lam unexpectedly parted ways with Bac Ninh FC before the season concluded, sparking speculation about a second retirement.

Pham Hoang Lam's unexpected departure from Bac Ninh FC while the season is still ongoing has drawn significant attention. Notably, this move occurred after the 1.87-meter tall center-back made a noteworthy comeback, fueling various rumors about his future.

According to some sources, the early departure decision may be linked to the persistent injury condition Hoang Lam has faced. There is even a possibility that the former U23 Vietnam player might once again consider retiring, concluding his turbulent journey in professional football.

Previously, in March 2024, Hoang Lam surprised fans by announcing his retirement at age 32. However, just one year later, he unexpectedly returned to the pitch by accepting an offer to join Bac Ninh FC upon invitation from coach Ngo Quang Truong, participating in the 2025 National Second Division.

This comeback was not random. Before joining the Kinh Bac team, Hoang Lam impressed strongly in amateur tournaments, thereby gaining favor with the coaching staff. With extensive playing experience, the center-back born in 1993 contributed significantly to Bac Ninh FC's achievement of promotion.

Hoang Lam was once a key player for U23 Vietnam under coach Toshiya Miura.

Nevertheless, Hoang Lam's career has never lacked twists. Developing from Dong Tam Long An, he played for many clubs such as HAGL, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, TP.HCM, and Quang Nam, but rarely maintained long-term stability. Personal errors and inconsistent performance led him to early departures from teams multiple times.

At the national team level, Hoang Lam was utilized by coach Toshiya Miura for U23 Vietnam in major tournaments like ASIAD 2014, SEA Games 2015, and the 2016 AFC U23 Championship. However, forgettable memories, especially the own goal against U23 UAE, remain a blemish in his career. Now, with another departure from Bac Ninh FC, the future of this center-back once again becomes a major question.
